Puri (VOV): The Young roller skaters from Puri brought immense pride to the district by putting up an outstanding performance at the ‘All India Open Inter-School Roller Skating Championship – 2026’, held on 5th and 6th September 2026 in Bhubaneswar.
Representing ‘Sarath Roller Sports Academy, Puri’, a total of seven young skaters participated in the championship, competing against participants from different schools and age groups. The Puri contingent displayed remarkable talent, determination and sporting spirit, returning with an impressive haul of 12 medals – 5 Gold, 6 Silver and 1 Bronze.
Atul Jagadev Mohapatra, a student of ‘EuroKids International’, Class Euro Junior, delivered a spectacular performance in the Quad category, winning three Gold Medals in the 200m, 300m and 500m races.
Jivika Chanduka, a UKG student of Blessed Sacrament High School, excelled in the ‘Tenacity’ category, securing two Gold Medals in the 100m and 200m races.
Dibyan Mohanty, a Class II student of Mothers Public School, won two Silver Medals in the 200m and 300m races and a Bronze Medal in 500m race.
Mohammad Arsalaanulla, a Class V student of Blessed Sacrament High School, secured two Silver Medals in the 100m and 200m ‘Tenacity’ races.
Devansh Khadenga, a student of Liltil Champ Play School, LKG, added three Silver Medals in the 200m, 300m and 500m Quad races.
Two other young skaters, Shreyajit Senapati and Adhyan Maran, also participated in the championship and represented Puri with enthusiasm and sporting spirit.
The championship featured various skating disciplines including Speed Inline, Fancy Inline, Speed Quad and Tenacity, with competitions conducted across different age categories.
The impressive performance of the Puri contingent reflects the growing enthusiasm for roller skating among school-going children in the district. Their achievement also highlights the importance of providing young athletes with opportunities, professional coaching and platforms to compete at higher levels.
The young skaters were guided by their coach Srinuvash Rao with the support of the Puri District Roller Skating Association and their respective schools and families.
The achievement has brought recognition to Puri’s emerging young skating talent and is expected to inspire more children across the district to take up roller sports and pursue excellence in competitive skating.
